:: On Douchenards

 

So, I read this article by Kevin Burke at the National Review Online  provided by Liss over at Shakesville and became a little bit offended. Just a little bit. Okay, so much so that I actually clicked on "email the author" and sent him a message.

I became this offended because Mr. Burke's premise is that those who oppose Sarah Palin are doing it out of "the collective grief, shame, and guilt from personal involvement in the abortion of an unborn child."

I'm so tired of jerks like this who try to espouse their shady political views by calling women hapless-helpless-victim-idiots who don't really know what they're doing (and of course need the guidance of the proprietary male to shed some light).

:: Madame President Documentary

Left to right: Sarah Parker, Kim Mance, Margot Wallström (Vice President of the EU), Konda Mason & Eva GeorgiaOne of the things I liked best about my old job in DC was meeting really cool women leaders doing amazing work around the world. After my son's cancer relapse, I decided to work from home and, I've gotta be honest, it was tough to give up the excitement of working in politics and advocacy (and having cosmos with the VP of the European Union). Not only is his illness traumatic in itself, it's also tough to suddenly be at home so much. Ya know, seeing the light of day and all that. Losing wages was no picnic either.

The decision has paid off though, and my son has pulled through well, he can now attend school each day and we're in a good routine for his weekly chemo appointments. He even had a recent Make-a-Wish trip!

But I've been able to stay connected with a few of those super-awesome women through various projects.
