Kim Mance in feminism, politics

Left to right: Sarah Parker, Kim Mance, Margot Wallström (Vice President of the EU), Konda Mason & Eva GeorgiaOne of the things I liked best about my old job in DC was meeting really cool women leaders doing amazing work around the world. After my son's cancer relapse, I decided to work from home and, I've gotta be honest, it was tough to give up the excitement of working in politics and advocacy (and having cosmos with the VP of the European Union). Not only is his illness traumatic in itself, it's also tough to suddenly be at home so much. Ya know, seeing the light of day and all that. Losing wages was no picnic either.

The decision has paid off though, and my son has pulled through well, he can now attend school each day and we're in a good routine for his weekly chemo appointments. He even had a recent Make-a-Wish trip!

But I've been able to stay connected with a few of those super-awesome women through various projects.

One of those projects is Madame President, and I've been working with filmmakers Konda Mason and Eva Georgia. This very important project tells the story of women Heads of State -- one which has rarely been told.  In fact, most people are still shocked to hear that there are currently 12 sitting women prime ministers and presidents around the world.

The project's goal is to reveal who these women leaders are and raise their visibility by telling their stories in a compelling and inspiring documentary and TV series.

I'm glad to say that over the last several months, I've "met" so many amazing women from all over the world through the magic of the internet. Inspiring travelers, intrepid moms, poignant writers. It's really amazing actually.

So, bringing together old friends and new, I thought I'd share this project with you:

It's really hard to get things like this funded (ya know, because it's "just" women), and they are still working on getting the necessary backing. So please pass this along to anyone who you think might find it interesting.
